What to Expect on Opening Day, Summer 2024!

As Summer 2024 begins, it’s (almost) time for the Opening Day of Camp. If you’re wondering about the logistics, emotions, and everything in between, you’ve come to the right place. Let’s dive into what you can expect and how to make this experience seamless for you and your camper.

Emotional Rollercoaster

Whether it’s your camper’s first summer or her eighth, Opening Day brings a multitude of emotions. From happy tears to anxious laughter, our seasoned counselors and staff are well-versed in handling it all. Leaving parents, meeting new faces, and reuniting with friends—it’s a whirlwind. Feelings are valid, and we’re here to embrace them all. If you’re feeling a bit jittery, explore our blogs on preparing yourself and your child for a memorable summer away.

Logistics Matter

Amidst the emotional rollercoaster, don’t forget the nitty-gritty logistics that ensure a smooth Opening Day. Start with pre-camp housekeeping—complete all camper forms on CampMinder, including selecting your preferred Opening Day Drop Off/Arrival Time Slot. And if you haven’t checked out ShipCamps for luggage delivery, refer to your email or the Parent Handbook (page 13) for details.
