Happy Holiday Season from Alleghany! Holiday Traditions, the ‘Ghany Girl Way
Greetings from Alleghany! The holidays are a special time to spend with family and friends and to create special memories – and at Alleghany we love to celebrate the holidays with our own unique traditions! Join us today for a ‘Ghany Girl Holiday as we explore all the joyful traditions that make the holiday season extra special here in Alleghany– from singing songs, to festive traditions, to special seasonal activities! We’re sure that after reading this blog, your family’s holiday season will be all the merrier!
One holiday tradition that is very special here at Alleghany is lighting your Candlelight Campfire Candle on Christmas Eve. ‘Ghany Girls all over light their candles and sing Camp Songs to bring a little bit of summer to the merry and bright holiday season! You’ll see us light our candles on social media and we will repost your stories or posts if you tag us!
Another holiday tradition that we enjoy is attending festive holiday events. There are all sorts of great events to enjoy throughout the season, from tree lighting ceremonies and Santa visits to holiday concerts and plays. These events bring us back to one of our favorite days of the summer, Christmas in July! Although we can’t go down the slip-and-slide in the middle of the winter, we may be able to go sledding or skiing!
And of course, no holiday season would be complete without reading “The Night Before Christmas!” This beloved tradition takes place the night before Christmas in July during the summer, while we are getting settled for bed, Bonnie reads to all of Alleghany over the loudspeakers. Campers and counselors alike love to listen and get excited for Santa to visit their tents overnight!
Giving Back
Lastly, we love to give back during the holiday season. As ‘Ghany Girls, we know that giving is one of the best parts of the holidays. We have a tradition of sending holiday cards to far-away friends, as well as donations to families in need. One way to give back this holiday season is to donate any toys or clothes that you don’t need or use anymore. Purging these items not only makes room for any new items you may receive as gifts but can also give these items an opportunity to be enjoyed by another family!
