Early Bird Registration Coming Soon for our 101st Summer!

Every year around this time, when summer is put to rest and we have only our memories of our recent camp summer, we turn toward the season ahead of us, and to life at home and at school.

And we also get ready for the NEXT summer, when we’ll be back at camp again.

That’s always an exciting time for me because I love the “off season,” which is full of reflecting on what we learned this summer, and planning ahead for all we’ll do when we meet again on the banks of the Greenbrier River.

Our Next Century

We just wrapped up our 100th season. 100 years of Camp Alleghany. 100 years of empowering women. A century of memories, friendships, and traditions. 100 summers crossing the Barge. 100 summers of canvas platform tents under the starry sky filled with sleeping, dreaming girls. 100 summers of Blues & Whites. 100 summers of Dining Hall songs and Play Hall performances and floats down the river. 100 summers of Junior Camp and Senior Camp and our songs and traditions and our unique ‘Ghany Girl camp culture.

How amazing is that?!

It was a truly memorable summer in so many ways. And it was so wonderful that we can’t wait to do it again! We’re eager to enter our next century and continue the traditions and work that were started 100 years ago.

And that said, because we allow our current campers to register on the last day of camp for the summer ahead, it is important to note that we are already over half full for First Term and Second Term. Mini Camp is also enrolled at a very healthy clip.

Early Bird Registration for our 101st Summer

All that is to say that if you want your camper to be with us for this summer, then you should be sure to set your e-calendar alerts to October 1st at midnight so that you can get your daughter enrolled without delay.

Please look over our 2023 dates and rates, our Programs, and think about your daughters’ needs for a healthy and happy summer camp experience next year. If everything lines up and it’s right for you, then secure your place by bookmarking this page to get your registration in as soon as possible on October 1st.

Early Bird Registration is available from October 1-December 1, 2022. I would encourage you to act sooner rather than later to avoid being waitlisted.

And don’t worry Mother-Daughter Weekenders, and Family Campers, your Early Birds happen in January and February respectively, and we’ll reach out to you well in advance to make sure you can register for these sessions as well.

Still Unsure about Summer Camp?

Not sure if your camper is quite ready yet? Or maybe YOU aren’t ready yet?

First, make sure you’re signed up to receive our emails, as we send a lot of great tips and advice for how to ascertain or decide when your camper and your family are ready for this step.

Second, check out the blogs I have written over the years about summer camp readiness. We’ve been in this business for quite a while (100 years to be exact! Although of course I personally haven’t been at it for 100 years 😉 ). I am always happy to talk to parents who are trying to decide – when to send their camper, how old, which session, is she ready, and more!

In the meantime, sign up to receive our blog by email, or follow it on social media, for lots of news, ideas, guidance, sharing, and fun all year long!

Warmly,

Elizabeth Shreckhise, Director, Camp Alleghany for Girls
