A Fond Farewell, Saying Goodbye to Cami

It’s hard to put into words what someone like Cami means to Camp Alleghany, not just as our Director of Marketing but as a dedicated and passionate member of our camp family. Over her time here, Cami has brought so much energy, creativity, and joy to her role, shaping the way we connect with our Alleghany family and sharing our stories with the world. It is bittersweet to announce that Cami is moving on from her full-time position at Camp Alleghany, but we’re incredibly grateful that she will remain involved with us in a freelance capacity, continuing to oversee our Marketing and Social Media Strategies.

For those who may not know, Cami joined us on the Admin Team in 2021, and since then, she has taken on countless projects with a vibrant enthusiasm that we have all come to rely on. Before that she spent 8 summers as a Camper, 3 summers as a Counselor and nearly 25 years as a Family Camper. Her eye for design, talent for storytelling, and deep understanding of what makes Alleghany so special have helped amplify our voice and reach countless families, alumni, and future campers. Cami’s creative touch can be seen everywhere—from our digital marketing and social media campaigns to the thoughtful blog posts and emails that keep our community informed and connected. She has been an invaluable part of our team, and her contributions have strengthened Alleghany in ways that will carry forward for years to come.

As Cami steps back from her full-time position, it feels right to take a moment to reflect on the impact she’s made. Her heart has always been in her work, and her dedication to sharing Alleghany’s mission and values shines through in every post, photo, and project she has touched. Her work has not only reached our Alleghany family but has also inspired so many of us to see camp in new and profound ways.

In addition to her role as Director of Marketing, Cami took on the important roles of Leadership Program Director and On-Site Summer Media Coordinator, bringing a unique blend of organization, mentorship, and creativity to each. These positions have become vital parts of our camp structure, and as we move into next summer, we are actively seeking talented individuals to continue the work Cami has begun in these areas:

  • Leadership Program Director: Cami has nurtured our Leadership Program with dedication, guiding our Startups, Midways, Upstarts, Leaders-In-Training (LITs) and Junior Counselors (JCs) in a structured and supportive environment. We’re looking for someone who embodies Alleghany’s values of honor, loyalty, and friendship, with a passion for mentoring young women as they grow into confident leaders.
  • On-Site Summer Media Coordinator: As our camp storyteller, Cami captured the heart and soul of Alleghany through photography, social media, and day-to-day updates that let families feel close to camp even from afar. We’re seeking a skilled, creative individual to continue this work next summer, someone who can bring Alleghany’s experiences to life and keep our campers’ families connected to the magic of camp.

If you are interested in learning more about or applying for one of these positions please reach out to me!

While this transition is a loss for our team, we are so pleased that Cami will continue to work with us on a freelance basis. This allows her to contribute her expertise and creativity while also pursuing new opportunities. We have no doubt she will continue to bring her unique voice and perspective to Alleghany and keep telling the camp’s story with the warmth and care she has always shown.

So, as we say goodbye to Cami in her full-time role, we want to express our deep gratitude for her hard work, vision, and friendship. Cami, thank you for your tireless dedication and all the wonderful memories you’ve helped create here. You have left an indelible mark on Camp Alleghany, and we’re so lucky to have had you with us—and still with us, in a new way. Here’s to all the great things ahead for you!

A Note From Cami

It’s hard to find the right words to say goodbye, especially to a place and people who mean so much to me. Alleghany has been a true home, and each of you has been such a big part of that. I can’t imagine a summer without the laughter of our campers, the spirit of our counselors, and the daily fun of working together to make camp magic happen. I’ll miss every bit of it more than I can say.

As I step into this next chapter in my career, I’m filled with gratitude for the memories we’ve made together and all the ways we’ve grown as a team. Thankfully, this isn’t a full goodbye! I’m so happy to be continuing my work with Alleghany and am already looking forward to seeing everyone at Family Camp. And don’t be surprised if you see me popping in here and there during term camp—I’ll definitely want to say hello and catch up on all the amazing things going on.

Thank you all for being such an inspiring, uplifting, and truly special group. Here’s to many more summers filled with laughter, growth, and friendship, and to all the wonderful moments still to come.

‘Ghany Love and Go Gray,

Cami <3
