Change is in the air!
After our 100th anniversary, we are looking forward to another fantastic summer on the Greenbrier, 2023 will include all of our favorite traditions, old and new friends even more ‘Ghany Magic!
Some of these new and old friends are taking on different positions here at Alleghany, and while we have already announced most of these changes, these members of our team have not yet had the opportunity to introduce themselves to you! Some of these changes have already taken place and over the next few weeks, you will be introduced to these team members and hear about the exciting changes and new opportunities coming this summer!
Before they introduce themselves I will tell you a little bit about who they are and why the Camp Alleghany Team is beyond lucky to work with them!
Programming
As some of you may know, Stephanie Astley is our new Program Director! Stephanie is a long-time Alleghany alum, current camp mom, former support staff, and former Head of Family Camp. She has been a camper, counselor, head counselor, and more for Alleghany while also having a background in Early Childhood Education!
Stephanie is the perfect fit for this role and dove right into her role in October. She has been busy interviewing and hiring Counselors for Summer 2023, brushing up on everything ACA, activity and program planning and so much more!
Stay tuned to hear from Stephanie herself in an upcoming blog post!
Mini Camp
Our one-week Mini Camp remains one of the strongest programs we have at Alleghany, and is a crucial preparation and feeder program into our 3-week Term Camp sessions. This is why picking and introducing our new Head of Mini Camp was such an important process.
Maggie Webb Meyer is the perfect candidate! She spent all of the last summer shadowing BA (the former Head of Mini Camp) and has previous experience as a Mini Camp Counselor.
Maggie hit the ground running in the fall and has spent the last several months learning everything there is to know about Mini Camp and preparing to welcome some of the newest “Ghany Girls this June!
We look forward to hearing more about Maggie and her plans for Mini Camp 2023 in her own blog post soon!
Marketing and Leadership
For the past 10+ years, Alleghany has enlisted the Marketing services of a Camp Parent and Marketing professional for all of our marketing and social media needs! After her retirement, we enlisted the help of an Alleghany Alum, Cami Bresee!
Cami has been at the helm of our marketing since June and is putting her degree in the subject to good use! As her role as Director of Marketing and Leadership Programs states, she is also in charge of planning and scheduling for all of our leadership programs. This includes Startups, Midways, Upstarts, LITs, and JCs.
With her 15+ years of Alleghany experience, she is the perfect person to help us hone and deliver our message to potential, current, and former ‘Ghany Girls on our website, blog, and social media pages!
Look forward to her personal blog post coming soon!
Outreach
While the new Role of Outreach Director has only been announced on our website, this person has been working to welcome new camp families, track enrollment trends and improve camper and counselor retention.
Our new Outreach Director is… BA (Beth Anne Clark-Thomas!) While her qualifications don’t need to be listed we will list them anyway. BA has spent over 50 years as a camper, counselor, Unit Head, Department Head, Upstart Mom, and Director of Mini Camp for 20 years!
She will tell you more about her new role soon!
New Year, New Team!
With this new team, we are ready for 2023! Well almost ready… we are still planning, prepping, and recruiting our summer 2023 counselors and staff! Along with these Admin Team members introducing themselves, we will be announcing our Summer 2023 Counselor Staff on our Socials!
With all of these exciting additions, we hope you stay tuned and build the summer 2023 excitement with us!
