Mother-Daughter Weekend 2024 has Come to a Close

What is this camp that they speak of so? Of friendships that generations sow Of summers spent away from home, Shooting her way out of prone Of cool nights after Taps has blown And the wondrous ways the girl has grown Of comfort zones she left behind While the river beside her winds

Mother-Daughter Weekend

Ever wondered if Camp Alleghany is the right fit for your daughter? If the magic of this poem speaks to you, then our Mother-Daughter Weekend is the perfect way to experience it firsthand. Here’s a look back at the unforgettable memories we made during Mother-Daughter Weekend 2024!

Friday: Kicking Off with Fun

The weekend started with a burst of excitement as moms, aunts, grandmothers, and daughters arrived. Ice-breaking activities and a wacky scavenger hunt helped everyone get acquainted with the campgrounds. Dinner in the Dining Hall was full of laughter, and the night ended perfectly with Milk and Cookies under the stars, serenaded by our amazing Term Camp counselors.

Saturday: Action-Packed Day

Saturday was packed with fun activities. We tried everything from archery to arts and crafts, getting a taste of what Alleghany offers. The dance activity was a big hit, with everyone joining in, from the little ones to the grandmas. The evening campfire was magical, especially when we all joined in singing campfire songs from our brand-new Alleghany Songbooks. We wrapped up the night with delicious s’mores, one of our favorite traditions here at ‘Ghany.

Sunday: Sweet Goodbyes

Sunday morning came quickly, but warm cinnamon buns helped us start the day right. We shared one last breakfast in the cool mountain air, reflecting on the wonderful time spent together. Saying goodbye was tough, but we left with memories to cherish and the promise to return.
