My students inform me of the countdown to summer every day, which can only mean one thing…CAMP! Every spring, even as an adult, I impatiently wait to be back on the Greenbrier for those crisp, cool mornings and cotton candy evening skies. As we pack our trunks, I want to encourage us all to pause and take a deep breath, recognizing and acknowledging the amazing gift you are about to receive.
For nine summers, the “Ghany We Will Give” campaign has embodied the true ‘Ghany spirit, allowing campers, counselors and alumni to give back to the Greenbrier County community for their years of hospitality. Since the program’s inception, we have collected everything from feminine hygiene products to canned food to animal care items for organizations such as the Family Refuge Center, Community in Schools, and Greenbrier Humane Society, to name a few.
This year we are thrilled to be working with The Marvel Center, the first-ever child development and daycare facility in the western end of Greenbrier County. Newly opened in February of 2022, the Marvel Center is primarily funded by many grants and other organizations, ensuring that affordable and accessible childcare is offered to families in the region.
This summer we will be collecting school supplies, toys, and other necessity items for the children who attend the Marvel Center. Our hope is that every camper will bring a few items to donate as they arrive to camp on opening day. Please use the provided list below as a guide when choosing your item(s).
