So many people hold Camp Alleghany close in their hearts, even when it’s been years since they were last here.
Occasionally we get surprise visitors who stop by when they’re near camp who couldn’t resist the opportunity to stop in to see us while they were so close to the area. And then we get e-mails from so many who tell us how much they loved (and love) camp, with memories of being here still burning brightly in their hearts.
Some friends find the pull of camp so irresistible still that they return for our annual Family Camp which is just around the corner.
But since everyone who wishes to be here with us can’t always make it happen, I thought I’d post some scenes of camp at dusk and night, those quiet moments when all the activity ratchets down and a peaceful blanket of air, sky, forest sounds, the babbling river, and quiet breathing overtakes camp.
The hush of evening.
And with these images you can join us in a gentle dreamtime place of memory, where just imagining camp from within will bring camp alive for you, and you truly will be with us in spirit. And know that we’re with you, too!
Sweet dreams! (Click on photos to make them larger. Use your browser’s back button to see the next photo.)
