We know that it’s not even Halloween yet but here we are talking about our holiday shop already! I promise you we do have some tricks and treats planned for the blog for Halloween — so stay tuned.
But because our holiday shop is only open for a short time leading into the season of cheer, and it opens today, we simply have to tell you about it! Especially since we have some totally brand new and unique things this year that I just know you’re going to love!
It’s a sign
Two particularly fun items are customized Alleghany prints that are perfect for a girl’s decor, no matter her age. (As in, I want one for my office!) And let me tell you how we got these fabulous prints.
This summer business developer Steve Maguire worked with both the director staff and the general staff. He was great, a real asset to Alleghany. And in getting to know him more personally, I learned about his wife Jess Maguire’s business called Peggoty Beachfont (you can also find her on Facebook).
He told me she could whip up a camp print, and that she did! We narrowed it down to two favorites which we’re selling in the catalog. We love her work so please also check out her site for non-camp items because she can pretty much make anything custom for you.
A little song and dance
Two of our other unique items will benefit the Camp Alleghany Alumni Association. One is the traditional pennant charm that we’ve sold in the past. The other is a new Camp Songs CD we’re offering for the first time.
I’m very excited about the CD!
Back in 2009 on my brand spanking new Macbook Pro, I thought I’d use the tool called Garage Band to capture some alumnae singing favorite camp songs throughout the summer and at Family Camp. Then for the past three years those songs just sat, untouched, in my Garage Band program.
Thanks to Brooke McCrory, who encouraged me to finally put them on a CD, we’re at last offering it for sale. Brooke edited all the songs to make them sound even better and now they’re ready to thrill you with happy times and fond memories. I know our alums and campers will listen to these beautiful songs all year, and, after much off-season singing in the shower, will come back to camp with even brighter, clearer, more commanding voices than before!
Finally, we’re also selling the Dance Shows on DVD for the first time (both 1st and 2nd term). I’m disappointed we weren’t able to capture the Drama Shows this year, but we have plans in place already for next summer to professionally film both the Dance and Drama Shows and we’ll be offering them for sale from here on out.
So have fun checking out these limited time holiday sales offering (orders must be in by November 30, 2012).
I also want to remind you of our partnership with Everything Summer Camp. They carry traditional camp clothing and other items with our logos that are offered year round, which can also make great gifts.
And lastly, we’ll also be selling panoramic all-camp photos from 1st and 2nd term, through our camp photographer’s website (separate from the holiday online store). I’ll make sure to announce that through email and Facebook when he has the site completed and is ready to take orders.
So happy pumpkin carving for now, but happy holidays (early) too!
