I don’t mind that kind of bustle — it’s a cheery time of year when lots of fun stuff is happening. But it’s easy to get caught up in travel and gatherings and the happy demands of family that sometimes things can fall through the cracks.
That’s why I wanted to offer you a few quick reminders about some deadlines that are coming up related to camp and the holidays, so that, if you’re interested, they can make it onto your to do lists, too.
Just as we do every year, we’re offering an Early Bird Tuition rate for camp next year that expires at midnight on December 1st. This is automatically set in our online system, so after that date, the rate reverts to the regular 2013 tuition rate. So if you’re sure your daughter is coming to Camp Alleghany next summer, why not register her in time for these substantial savings?
Another way to save money for next summer is to pay in full at the time of registration. You’ll get an additional 5% off by entering the coupon code PAYINFULL. This bonus is available all year, but why not take advantage of it before the tuition rate goes up? By doing so you can also make going to camp part of your daughter’s holiday gift — just make a card saying “You’re going to Camp Alleghany Summer 2013” and gift her in style!
We also offer a time-limited Holiday Store with seasonal items that will be taken off the website at the same time, at midnight on December 1st. Now’s the time to get our fun Camp CD, last summer’s Dance Show DVD, special sweatshirts, one-of-a-kind Camp Alleghany wall art, charms, and more!
Another item that you might consider for holiday gift-giving is a panoramic all-camp picture — this was an old tradition that we thought we would try again this year and we loved it!— provided by our camp photographer Jeremy Leadbetter. It’s available on his website. Though it’s not deadline specific, you would want to order in time for your recipient’s holiday celebrations.
Other Ghany items are available from Everything Summer Camp, the year-round online store that we partner with to provide you with Ghany gear and other camp supplies. They just let me know that they’re adding an awesome new set to our page on their site, including running shorts and more Blue/Gray team items!
The season of renewal and giving
If you read my recent blog about the new Lantern Scholarship set up by the Camp Alleghany Alumni Association you’ll know how excited I am about this wonderful new opportunity for girls to attend camp who might not otherwise be able to.
If this inspires you as much as it does me, you might consider a donation to the scholarship fund. Because it’s a tax deductible donation, you’ll want to give before January 1st to claim your donation on your 2012 taxes.
Some have asked me how to contribute to the scholarship fund in Lily Romando’s name. Simply go to the donation page or to the “Remembering Lily” page, and when you fill out the donation form, type her name in the field where it asks in who’s memory the donation is.
Now that the year is wrapping up I just want to remind you that Family Camp registration opens up in January. So if you’re planning to come next summer, early registration is best for this popular part of our camp season.
The Alumni Association is also providing new and exciting perks for all members beginning next year. All members need to renew in January. Both old and new members will receive the new perks, so please plan to renew your membership.
Many thanks to you for all the ways you are connected to Camp Alleghany! Have a lovely and Happy Thanksgiving!
