While I could maybe use a touch less of the “Arctic chill,” still, I am so glad for beautiful fall leaves, brisk weather, and the turn of the seasons inward, to warm fireplaces, thoughts of Thanksgiving, and planning for the camp year ahead.
And to that end I want to reach all of our Camp Alleghany families old and new — as well as prospective families — with some important upcoming dates for winter time get togethers that we’d love for you to attend.
I’m hoping that by sending out this save-the-date, you can get it into your best calendar (whether on the wall or electronic), and even strategize with friends and other family members, so that we get the biggest turnout ever for these Winter Reunions!
Reunions and New Unions…er, something!
Now, we call these “reunions” because we want to see Alumnae and current camp families so much — you know how camp bonds are, we treasure them!
But these are not strictly reunions in the sense that we want to make ourselves available to prospective families, too. Meeting in person in areas close to where folks live is one way to bridge the gap from information about camp on the Internet to “IRL” (In Real Life) where interested parents and would-be campers can see us face-to-face, get a feel for who we are, and ask those all important questions*. Forming these personal relationships is so valuable to us and, we believe, to future camp families.
So please, PLEASE, bring those interested families. We would absolutely LOVE to meet them in this no-pressure situation for gathering, celebrating, meeting, greeting, and getting a warm slice of camp in the cool of the New Year.
Are you ready?
Get out your calendar.
Note down a friend from camp or a future friend of camp to contact and plan for:
- A Winter Reunion in Washington, DC at St. Patrick’s Episcopal Day School, 4700 Whitehaven Parkway North West, on Sunday, January 5th, from 1-3pm.
- A Winter Reunion in Richmond, Virginia at St. Catherine’s School, 6001 Grove Avenue, on Sunday, January 12th, from 1-3pm.
Now just think, you’ll have another topic for Thanksgiving dinner — getting everyone who wants to come to the reunion to come. Make a date of it!
A few weeks before these events we’ll announce them again so that you can RSVP. And remember, all are welcome — you, campers, alum, any family members, friends you know, would be camp-families and campers. The more the merrier!
And…while I have your rapt attention there are three more dates I thought I’d pass along for your calendaring. They are registration open dates:
Remember that Early Bird Registration for Mini and Term Camp (and their big discounts) run through December 1, 2019. After that, full price registration kicks in.
Our Second Annual Mother-Daughter Weekend Registration Opens January 15th, with early bird pricing up through February 15th, 2020.
Family Camp registration opens February 1st. Family Camp has really been growing, so plan to get your registration in right away.
Coming up soon we’ll have some other specials and calls-to-action. So bookmark the blog and like and follow our social media sites — Facebook | Twitter | Instagram for news on Black Friday, Cyber Monday, and Giving Tuesday.
And the most important date of all? Thanksgiving! We hope yours is wonderful. And you can be sure that at ours one of the biggest remembrances of gratitude we will share is for you, our camp families, and our campers, who we treasure and value with all of our hearts and all of our thanks!
