The Camp Alleghany Alumni Association (CAAA) is so pleased to announce a special upcoming weekend event for alumni and friends of Camp Alleghany that we’re sure you’re going to be thrilled about.
So get ready to save the date and to jump on registration for it because there are only 40 spaces available.
1st Annual L.O.L. Weekend
This is a weekend of fun and laughter and productivity and connection, with that ‘Ghany Girl spirit at the heart of it all.
What it is is The 1st Annual L.O.L. Weekend which stands for a Labor of Love (and we’re bound to be Laughing Out Loud, too!)
It all happens at the site of all the magic — at Camp Alleghany itself the weekend of June 12-14. Just cross the Greenbrier River and let the old memories come back and the new memories be made.
Some of us in the CAAA hatched this plan as an adjunct to the annual tent raising weekend.
That weekend is being held a bit earlier this year, in May, at Facilities Director Garrett O’Dell’s request, so that he and his team have more time to “square off the tents” and furnish them.
During the Spring we focus so heavily on the big projects, that little projects around camp, which don’t necessarily require the expertise of the facilities staff, can sometimes get less notice as Garrett’s team is tied up with the big projects of more structural and safety concerns.
So voila, enter a fun way to wrap up the rest of the pre-season needs while also getting together and having a great time!
On the L.O.L. schedule
Here’s what the weekend will look like:
Participants will be working in teams by day on beautification, organizational, tidying camp preparation projects (i.e. painting, planting, and small odds and ends).
Afternoons include rest hour and some not-quite-summertime play in the river (for the brave).
We’ll enjoy campfires, camp songs, fellowship, and s’mores by night and we’ll sleep in tents the old fashioned way — men and women separately (slumber party!).
An especially exciting thing is that all meals from Friday dinner through Sunday lunch will be provided by camp with the new meal service contractor, KANDLE! (We’re really thrilled that you’ll be able to try KANDLE and look forward to receiving your feedback since the L.O.L. weekend will be just before camp starts.)
With the clock ticking as we head toward opening day, we thought this could be a fun way for alums to come stay at camp and help out and just enjoy being back at camp.
So if you’re an alumnus or camp friend who’s 18 or older (sorry, this is an adults only event), please plan to join us for this fun weekend that will double as a Camp Alleghany Alumni Reunion!!
As a special bonus to our loyal CAAA members, we’re offering exclusive access to the first signup privileges through April 1st (no foolin’).
On April 2nd, the invite opens to all 18-year-old and older Camp Alleghany family and friends.
Registration for what is likely to be an engaging and delightful weekend ends on May 1st and the entire event is limited to 40 people.
So I urge you to register TODAY! And here’s how you do that:
- Name (s)
- Preferred email address
- Preferred cell phone number
I hope we’ll hear from you!
