Each summer, Camp Alleghany offers two 3-week sessions for rising 2nd-10th grade girls.
There are no prerequisites to attend Term Camp. But our one-week long Mini Camp program is a fun way for younger girls who have not attended Camp Alleghany, or any sleep-away camp, to get a taste of what summer is like here before coming to a Term Camp session.
At the same time, many girls are ready to make our Term Camp their first experience with sleep-away summer camp.
Organized activities range from archery and rifle programs where girls can achieve nationally recognized certifications of their skills, to photography and drama programs where experienced instructors help girls develop skills to tap into their creativity, to our Wild World program for girls who want to connect with the environment, gaining confidence in themselves in guided overnight camping.
In addition to their four activities, campers enjoy unstructured time daily during which they may attend Free Swim, play tennis or pick-up games/sports, write letters home, shower, relax, or simply play on tent row. Counselors supervise all activities, structured and unstructured.
We also include a variety of programs in the Camp Alleghany experience that relate to age groups, service, friendly competitions, and leadership. See our Programs page for details.
Since many returning campers have the chance to register at the end of their summer session for the next year’s session, space for new campers is limited. Learn more about Term Camp and then register to save your space.
Leaders in Training
Our new Leaders in Training (LIT) program offers 16-year-old girls hands-on leadership training in the context of a summer camp setting at Camp Alleghany. Under the supervision of experienced adults, LIT participants work as apprentice camp counselors, gaining skills useful to their future careers and lives as engaged citizens. Learn More about LIT.
