We’re all set this year to celebrate our 95th summer as a girls’ camp — can you believe it? And it just so happens to be the 50th anniversary of Family Camp this summer, too. What a year!
We’re so excited for some special celebrations this summer but in the meantime, as we were mulling over ideas for commemorating our occasions, we were struck by just how many stories a camp of our size and age has to tell. Thousands! And those stories are your stories, too.
That’s why we launched a new feature on our website to showcase profiles of ‘Ghany Girls young and old. And we invite you to enter your profile to be featured on our site. We’ll be continuing this even after our 95th summer — it’s a permanent new feature of the site that lives in two places: you can always see three featured profiles on our homepage, and when you click on an individual profile, it brings up just that camper, staff member, or alum story.
Then on our profiles page, you can see all the profiles together and again, click on any one profile to read more.
So let’s hear your ‘Ghany story!
You can input your own profile information here, and include a picture to upload, too. Whether you went to or worked at Camp Alleghany long ago, or whether you’re currently a camper or staffer, everyone is invited to join in! Campers or Junior Counselors under the age of 18 need to check a box confirming that they have parental permission to add a story.
It’s going to be so fun and inspiring to see our real-world community, united across decades of time and around the globe, brought together in one place where we can share our common bond today.
I hope you’ll participate and tell your ‘Ghany friends!
