I know you know that we like to keep in touch! That’s why we’re using all of our available channels — Facebook & Twitter, our e-newsletters, the website, and our blog — to let you know that Camp Alleghany has a new winter address and why that’s so awesome!
As you also know, Camp Alleghany is a long-time family business. In this, it’s third generation of family management, I work directly, year-round together with my parents (and sometimes with extended family) to run Camp Alleghany. For a while now we’ve done that during the off-season months with mom and dad (Bonnie and Sam) in their Fredericksburg, Virginia home and me in my Staunton, Virginia home.
The times they are a changin’
But now Sam and Bonnie are moving to Staunton!!!
Not only is this move great for my son Mason, to be closer to his maternal grandparents (and they to him), but it’s also wonderful for me to work even closer — as in face-to-face — on a more regular basis with my parents.
E-mail and Skype are obviously fantastic additions to today’s workplace, allowing people to collaborate at a distance and still get the job done. But nothing beats being in the same room and all the synergy and opportunity that arises from that. Like for example, stopping everything to have a slow cup of coffee together…or run out for ice cream!
The new address
Sam and Bonnie are building a house nearby and it will also hold the Camp Alleghany winter office. It will be a place of creativity, imagination, organization, innovation, and dedication. So when you want to reach us in the off season, post a letter to:
P.O. Box 2515
Staunton, Virginia 24402
Post cards will go out soon with this information on it, too. That way you can pop it on your fridge or bulletin board and dream about camp all winter long and drop us a line when you just need that camp fix!
