I’ve only ever had a JC living in my tent as a counselor – last year, I had a Tinge for the first time. And the first time I saw JC initiation, I knew that I couldn’t wait until I was one.
So this year, as I’m heading back to camp as a 16, it’s knowing that it’s my last year as a camper. I’m extremely excited. Of course, I’m sad that I won’t be a camper anymore, but I just know that this upcoming year is going to be the best one yet.
Our age group is so close – we all adore each other, and we’ve discussed how much we’re looking forward to 16’s summer. It’s also going to be my 4th year, so I’ll go through four-year initiation. I’m hoping I’ll be able to stay full term, seeing as it’s my last year as a camper, but I’m not counting on it. I also work a summer job and, since I also want to drive, I have to make that gas money!
But whatever happens, my 16 year is something I plan to treasure, as much for the last moments as a camper as for what there is to look forward to next. And, of course, what follows is JC summer.
I already know how much I want to be a counselor at Alleghany. I babysit a lot of kids, including Mason, Elizabeth’s son. And I love hanging out with children – helping them learn new things, talking to them, just being with them and sharing creativity, music, laughter. I think that when the time comes, having my own campers is going to be amazing.
Plus, of course, how could I not want to know what’s in the Purple Palace? It’s been such a huge mystery since I first came to Alleghany, and I’m dying to find out. I’m sure it will live up to my wildest expectations and more! With only 276 days to go, let the countdown begin. I hope if it would be your 16 year that you’ll register soon!
