I say this every year, but how is it possibly May? Summer is approaching, and there’s so much to look forward to as we begin another summer season on the banks of the Greenbrier River.
But before we arrive, I’d like to announce the 2018 ‘Ghany We Will Give (GWWG) campaign.
Last year, we partnered with the school nurses for Greenbrier County Schools by collecting feminine hygiene products that would be provided to students in need. This project won the hearts of our girls, as we collected the most donation items we’ve ever collected in the history of ‘Ghany We Will Give.
In fact, we collected so many items, that in addition to our planned giving, we were able to take an additional entire car load to the local Family Refuge Center.
By partnering with both of these organizations, our girls helped ensure that girls and women in the surrounding areas did not go without hygiene products during this past year.
Onward to 2018
Now in the program’s fifth year, GWWG is honored to be working once again with the Family Refuge Center on a project that will allow our girls to directly help women and children in the surrounding area.
The Family Refuge Center is a private non-profit community-based project committed to ending physical, sexual, and emotional abuse in families. Their local shelter is located in Lewisburg, West Virginia and we will be collecting items this year to help those families seeking assistance.
Our hope is that every camper will bring something to donate as they enter camp on opening day. If you’re able to package these items in reusable bags, that will also help our green footprint and help those families to practice environmentalism even in trying circumstances.
Please use the following lists as a guide when choosing your item(s):
Personal Hygiene Items:
- Hand sanitizers
- Toothpaste/toothbrushes (adult/kids)
- Deodorant (women/men)
- Body wash (women/men)
- Hand soap
- Feminine products (tampons, sanitary napkins)
- Diapers (all sizes)
- Baby wipes
- Tearless shampoo
- Baby lotion
- Diaper rash cream
As a native of Lewisburg, there is nowhere I love more than home, and I want to personally thank you in advance for your support. Please email me should you have questions about the program.
With much gratitude,
