Editor’s note: One of our camp nurses, whose two granddaughters attend camp, sent me this email last week. It brought tears to my eyes, and I asked if we could use it as a blog, and she said yes! It’s so sweet (especially how she’d like to be my Baby Shreckhise’s JC if I have a girl). How cute is that?
I can’t tell you how much I love hearing from families over the winter. This is just the most recent example, but I’d love to hear from other staff, grandparents, parents, and even campers because your letters are always so warming to my heart!
I just wanted to share with you how much my granddaughter Haley is in love with Camp Alleghany 🙂
I met Haley yesterday after school for a little while. As we were walking she shared with me how excited she is that Georgia, her counselor from last year, is returning. She has kept in contact with Georgia all year through Instagram. She told me that she plans to spend all her time with Georgia this year!
Haley is also trying to figure out whether, if you have a girl, if she will be old enough or be “your daughter’s” counselor when Haley becomes a JC!!! Haley has plans of coming to be a counselor forever and the head of Alleghany Singers one day.
She also said that if the time ever came that Camp Alleghany was for sale that she would buy it to keep it in the family! 🙂 Mind you this is the mind of an eleven-year-old.
I always reflect back to my first summer working at Camp Alleghany in 2002. Haley was due in September that year and I knew from that summer on that I wanted Haley to be able to have this wonderful experience as she was growing up. I see Kaitlyn following in her foot steps after her first full term. –Patti McClelland, Camp Nurse, Camp Alleghany for Girls
Thanks for reading everyone. And do send those letters/emails in because we miss you! Only 101 days until camp!
