My daughter, Stuart, has been going to Camp Alleghany for three years, and today, July 5, 2011, I received my first letter home from her! Three long years of waiting, and finally I receive a letter from her while she is away.
When she got home the first year, it was my first question! “Why didn’t you write to us?”
She calmly walked over to her trunk and showed me three letters she wrote, but never sent. I asked her why, and she told me she was having too much fun to mail them.
The second year I swore she did it out of spite, but no, I forgot to give her stamps, and she decided not to ask to borrow any!
This year, I get a letter, and I can’t wait to hear all sorts of fun things! The letter says, and I quote,
You lied! Tornadoes can come over hills. Now I’m scared. Ava told me and so did Mackenzie.
It has a heart with a sad face in the center! Classic!
What can I say? What I remember from my science days are that tornados can only happen in open, flat areas. Apparently, I’ve been trumped by two other 10 year olds who are much smarter then me?! Regardless, I’m so glad to finally hear from her! I’ll take it!
