Believe it or not, Autumn is almost here, school is back in session, and it’s already time to start thinking about the summer of 2013! But first, a recap from this summer.
We just completed one of our most successful summers ever, despite the unique weather that came our way. Mini-Camp was full with 70 campers, and both terms housed over 210 girls with a wait list for both terms.
We were able to enjoy our new Play Hall and Dining Hall porches, courtesy of our Facilities Manager Garrett O’Dell, who continues to improve and update more of our facilities each year.
And of course the campers had a wonderful time, made new friends or strengthened old ones, and learned new skills and many great life lessons.
We also hope you enjoyed following us on Facebook and Twitter this year, and that you had a chance to read and/or contribute to our Camp Alleghany Blog. We continue to strive to move forward into the 21st century while remaining firmly rooted in the traditions and values upon which Camp Alleghany was founded. Fotunately today’s technologies offer more ways for us to share those traditions and values, and to keep our Ghany family and friends connected even when we’re apart!
As usual, Camp Alleghany and Camp Greenbrier will run concurrently again next summer for our regular sessions. The 2013 dates are below, and please note that the dates have been pushed back a week from our regular schedule:
|Mini Camp (Alleghany only)||June 23-June 29|
|1st Term||June 30-July 20|
|2nd Term||July 21-August 10|
We’d like to share the exciting news that we have hired long time Alleghany camper, counselor, and Head Counselor Taylor Fellows as our new Program Director. We’re thrilled to welcome Taylor to our Administrative Team and look forward to working with her on program planning, department improvements, and the general program operations that your daughters love so much at Camp Allegany. We know Taylor will be an outstanding addition to our team, and we hope you’ll have a chance to get to know her. Welcome, Taylor!
In reviewing our Strategic Plan, we realize that to keep in line with our major competitors, and to have Alleghany remain the camp that you love, the rates must increase slightly for 2013. Attached you’ll find the 2013 Camp Alleghany Rates and a Registration Flyer explaining our online registration process for returning families.
Registration will open on October 1, 2012. Remember, there are early incentive savings if you enroll your daughter by December 1st.* By registering early, you’ll also ensure your daughter’s spot at camp.
We’ve attached a second flyer outlining our new Visitation Policy. Please review this as you make your plans for next summer.
As always, we thank you for your continued interest in and support of Camp Alleghany. We hope to see your daughter and her friends in 2013, our 92nd summer of operation!
–Sam Dawson, Director, Camp Alleghany for Girls
*If you filled out a green “Early Commitment” form at the end of your daughter’s session and put down a deposit already, you will receive a separate email this week with information specifically for you.
