We’re so pleased to announce the arrival of the newest member of the Camp Alleghany for Girls family — our new website!
Our old website served us well over more than five years, but since technology moves so quickly online, we knew that it was time for a refresh of the website’s look and feel along with the technology that makes it run smoothly.
It’s been a while in the making but at last it’s here, offering some new slimmed-down features that should make your online experience with us that much easier.
A New Look and Feel
For example, we’ve employed a cleaner layout focused on big, bold photography which helps us to quickly and visually share some of the awesome experiences of camp with our online visitors.
At the same time, a contemporary design underlines our message that we’re bringing the best of traditional girls’ summer camp to today’s hyper-connected world so that you can learn about us quickly, easily find what interests you, and come back to dive back in when you’re ready.
The spotlight is now on new content, starting with our new camp overview video that traces the day in the life of one of our campers, her sisters (also campers with us), and their family. It’s a way for you to see what a new experience like camp might be, especially for younger campers who might feel unsure, and yet who are likely (as most campers are) to open up into the sleepaway summer camp experience and thrive!
We also want to make it easy for you to find what you want depending on the ages and stages of your campers and your family’s camp needs.
In response to requests from our website visitors and studying data about how people have used the site over the last few years, we’ve streamlined navigation and made it easier for visitors to find what they’re looking for quickly.
For example, we added three “Paths” for visitors to easily explore each of our main programs:
- Mini-Camp for younger girls.
- Term Camp for our main group of campers.
- Family Programs, a new hub where parents get to join in the fun in more than one camp offering.
We also added testimonials to our front page and, due to the overwhelming outpouring of help from our camp families, we’ll very soon be adding a fuller Testimonials Page to the inside of the site with those recent testimonials, too. Thank you to all of you who responded to our request for testimonials — they warmed our hearts in more ways than one!
Our expanded drop-down menus easily allows families to find the Mother-Daughter Weekend Program under Campers, and in the same place our Leaders-In-Training Program for our oldest campers; job opportunities for counselors and staff are available in our top menu, and dropped under our About section lives our long-treasured Alumnae Hub for former campers and staff of all ages (and both sexes).
Parents will still enjoy a parent hub and parent resources, an easy place to register for camp, and our popular blog for keeping up with what we do year-round to make your camper’s summer camp experience meaningful and engaging.
The new design is optimized for phones, to be easier and more fun to use on a small screen.
We hope you’ll enjoy visiting our new website. Please click around and see what’s there. And let us know if you have suggestions for any ways to make it better!
Thank you to our longtime media and marketing advisors and website builders, Curren Media Group who’ve been with us for nine years doing blog editing, social media management, some graphic design, and email advisement. We love our new site!
