I was so excited to see that we’re now up to almost 1,000 fans on Facebook. What a great way for us all to share photos, chime in with stories, and keep in touch not only with camp, but with each other. It’s so fun when I see a shout out from one camper to another, or when someone posts an anecdote or memory.
We’ve also been having fun with trivia, so stay tuned to see if you have the correct answer on some little-known Alleghany fact. (Though the top-secret ones so special to our traditions will stay…top secret!)
If you haven’t yet seen Camp Alleghany on Facebook we hope you’ll take a moment to not only check out our page, but also “like” us. That way you’ll get regular updates about what’s going on at camp, on the blog, and with your fellow campers, counselors, staff and alumni. And, if you really want to grow the Camp Alleghany family on the social networks, please use the “Share” buttons on Facebook and on our blog to let others know we’re out here or to suggest a specific blog story to read.
And while I’m on here gushing about Facebook (yes, I like to post pictures of my son Mason, the littlest Green Team member), I’ll also encourage you to follow us on Twitter. You never know when we’re in the mood to do a countdown to Term Camp, or when we might be collecting ideas for a Campfire activity. That’s what makes social media so fun—while we stay in touch we can help influence each other for the good of our shared interests.
If you’re really lucky, you might light onto one of our new contests. So join up and stay connected.
It’s clear that ‘Ghany Girls are on the cutting edge of the e-revolution. At least all but six sweet weeks of the summer. Then, we’ll take tin cans and strings, thank you very much: “C’mon you old girls, join with us new girls…”
