My daughters and two camp friends recently had a campers’ reunion in St. Louis and it was such fun I had to share it with others.
My three daughters — Megan, Lindsey, and Ashley (Ghany girls, all) — were in such anticipation for their friends to come visit! Our house was all abuzz as we prepared for their arrival.
They’re here!
Liza arrived Friday in the early afternoon and Ann Carter around five. Everybody hugged for what seemed like an eternity when they got off the plane and saw each other! Chatter about camp immediately started in the car on the way back to our house. We then went out for a fun dinner that night with all five of us Byers and Ann Carter and Liza.
Out and about

On Saturday we decided to pack in all of the St. Louis sites we wanted to show our guests because Winter Storm Titan was on it’s way Saturday night and Liza had to get home one way or another due to exams the following week.
Saturday morning we got up and my husband Andy fixed Belgian waffles for everyone. We kept the morning casual, playing cards in our P-js . Then we headed out to see the sites.
We went to Sky Zone first thing. This is a place with big trampolines — a favorite for the Byers! We then went to see Busch Stadium where the Cardinals play baseball. After that we headed to see the Gateway Arch — the entry to the West!
We took our camp visitors to our favorite lunch place — Lester’s — and then the girls wanted to do a little shopping at West County Center. During their shopping trip we got a call from The Sharpleys that Liza’s flight Sunday morning had already been cancelled due to the approaching snow storm so she was going to have to leave Saturday night to get back to Atlanta. 🙁 Of course everyone was disappointed to see her go but glad we were able to get a full day of fun in while she was here.
Liza left Saturday night and sure enough the snow and ice started that night.
Snow days
We woke up Sunday morning to lots of snow and enjoyed relaxing by the fire, playing cards and watching movies. We finally got motivated to get out of the house and do a little more shopping. Ann Carter was scheduled to leave on a Sunday afternoon flight but that too was cancelled due to the storm.

Then Sunday night the girls got the call that St. Louis schools were closed on Monday! Everyone was so excited to extend the weekend another day with Ann Carter still here!
And when we headed to the airport around lunchtime on Monday we found out that Ann Carter’s flight was cancelled again due to snow on the East Coast. There were lots of cheers as the girls were thrilled to see her stay!
See you in the summer (and the winter!)
Ann Carter and Liza fit right in with a house full of Alleghany girls. We’re so excited to continue this in years to come and hope to have many more ‘Ghany girls visit us in the Midwest!
