I thought I was bad with counting down to camp — that feeling of, “I can’t wait, I can’t wait,” coursing through my blood and bones. But it seems Melissa Hunt and her family had it pretty bad, too!
Melissa, who is a Charleston, West Virginia area recruiter for camp, was so excited that she hosted a pre-camp soiree just a little ways up the road. So close was her party, in fact, that it was held in the original Stone House for which Camp Alleghany’s neighboring Stone House Road was named!
As Melissa tells it,
On June 28th, we (the Hunt Family) held a “Night Before Camp Cocktails & Family BBQ” at our home in Lewisburg.
Charleston recruits, Ghany friends, and their parents were invited to get a jump start on first term. Parents loved meeting each other and putting faces with names they have all heard so much about!
When the initial squealing ended, girls enjoyed dinner on picnic blankets on the lawn and counted the hours till check in the next day! All agreed that this was to be an annual event from now on.
Fortunately we all get to enjoy a view into their BBQ with this lovely set of pictures they sent. (Click on the photos to view large.)
If you have a camp-related get together, send me your story, too!
