Ghany, here’s a thank you song to you all…
This is a bittersweet goodbye to my position as Program Director for Camp Alleghany. It has been such a wonderful pleasure to be able to do this job for the past several years in the place that has given me so much over the decades.
Thank you to Camp for giving me the opportunity to establish this position as its own, a crucial position that helps support program development and build a great summer team.
Thank you for giving me the chance to recruit some of the most wonderful girls that have become the greatest counselors each summer. It has been such a pleasure to watch these girls grow into leaders and role models for their campers.
In these past four years I’ve had some incredible experiences and met some wonderful people. I’m blessed to have witnessed the next generation of campers coming up the ranks and succeeding in all their activities and having the same wonderful and memorable experience that I had at camp as a camper and counselor.
New directions
So what is next for me?
I’m applying to a few jobs at the University of Virginia which means that I’ll be sticking close to home. The skills and experiences I’ve gained at camp will help me in my next endeavors.
I’ll look forward to spending the summer at home, although I am not sure what that is like.
I’ll also look forward to coming back in the future as a Mini Camp Counselor and to bring my daughter Holly and any future family members to Family Camp. We’ll obviously look forward to Holly joining the mighty Blue Team and taking her place in the sun as a ‘Ghany Girl!
So this is cheerio and not goodbye! I know you’ll welcome with open arms whomever comes to the Program Director position next, giving her that magical ‘Ghany Girl spirit that you all show so well!
