It’s February in Baltimore (a Leap Year no less) and we’re having a fairly mild winter. I wish I could say the same about the drama of raising girls! All three of my daughters are having friend issues. How is that possible? Yet somehow it is.
These are the days that I can’t wait for the summer and for Camp Alleghany to start. The only drama I want to hear is about how great the ‘Ghany drama class is!
It’s times like this that BA’s words ring in my head about how badly our girls need camp time. They need to unplug from all the social media, get away from all the cliques, and escape…well, just the drama of life.
They need fresh air, sunshine, river water swims, cool breezes, camp fires, a mountain mood under a blue sky surrounded by fragrant pines.
The countdown to seeing the waiting barge and a bunch of fun-loving, spirited, happy counselors waiting on the other side with their promises of a slower pace and good times, can’t come soon enough for me and my girls.
My mind wanders some more. I can already hear them singing the welcome song,
It’s a welcome song we’re singing to you today.
A right merry welcome we all want to say.
We’re glad you have come, and hope you will stay.
We’ll all be so sorry when you go away.
Oh! I can already feel the sun on our face as we cross the Greenbrier.
Come on June!!
